INES MONTEIRO

My artistic  life  started  in  school,  where Art  was my  favorite   subject.
Coming from a family where Art was part of our culture, it was natural for me to follow my preferences.
Our father, I come from a large family, taught me from early age the  beauty of Art, Writing, Poetry, Sculpture, Acting ,Music Singing, Dancing, Painting.
We travelled   visiting museums, sat in front of famous paintings  learned  to look at them, while  he explained who the painter was and all about each particular Artist and the story behind the painting.
I  studied foreign languages,  English,  French,  Spanish,  German,  Italian,  Portuguese. This took me to different countries where I saw and met new forms  of Art!
Lived in Rio de Janeiro, here I learned to paint china wear, porcelain.  The reason for this “apprentisage”was connected to another activity I had in Brasil.
I had a business of special Portuguese Convent Deserts, all hand  made, largely appreciated in Brasil,  this was a boom!
So I painted porcelain recipients, such as bowls, plates, cups, etc and then put the exquisite deserts inside… It was quite a nice experience.
Back in Portugal, started with Oils, taught by a famous Portuguese portraitist Nuno Guimarães,  for eight years, loved and  developed my skills, then experienced  Acrylics, an easy media felt after the learning on ils.
Watercolour was my next big crush which remains until today.
Being administrator of IWS Portugal, keeps me in contact with the watercolour world. Having participated in courses with great masters, such as George Politis Greece, Liu Yi,  China, Jean Haines England, Fabio Cembranelli Brasil, Idoia Lasagabaster Spain, Eudes Correia Portugal.
Exhibitions  in Portugal, Greece, Turkey, Denmark, Italy, Pakistan.
Hope to continue this crush on watercolours discovering the magic in it and keep on learning always…
